Biography
Shiny bonced netminder Peter Gulacsi signed for City during July 2011 for a season long loan, to add strength to City’s resurgent Championship squad to to give first team experience to the 21 year old Hungarian. Alas neither aim was satisfactorily achieved, as Gulacsi blundered his way through three months in and out of the Tigers’ first XI. His first team chances weres cut short by injury at the end of December 2011 and he returned to parent club Liverpool that April.
Born in the Hungarian capital Budapest, Gulacsi was a teenager at MTK Budapest when Liverpool acquired his signature, first on loan then in 2008 on a permanent move. During the next five years Gulacsi was an irregular presence on Liverpool’s subs bench, but he never made a first team appearance for the Reds and saw his only action during a number of loan spells at Football League sides, the last of which was at Hull City.
In June 2013 Gulacsi sold his soul to sticky energy drinks and signed for Austrian side RB Salzburg. Two years further on, and presumably with his once-fine teeth now reduced to withered stumps, he switched to German sister club RB Leipzig where he was a first team ever present for the Red Bull corporation over many seasons.
Gulacsi had numerous youth team caps for Hungary at every level up to under-21, and made his senior international debut in May 2014 against Denmark. He played regularly for his country for several years, starting all three group games when Hungary qualified for the delayed Euro 2020 Finals tournament.
