Biography
Exciting winger and forward Abu Kamara joined Hull City in August 2024 for a fee in the region of £4.5 million.
Abu Bakarr Kamara was born in Lambeth, South London, to parents with Sierra Leonean heritage. He joined the Norwich City academy as a boy and progressed through the age groups, breaking into the Canaries’ Under-23 side in October 2020 and scoring regularly before making his senior debut in a December 2020 EFL Trophy tie against Milton Keynes Dons. He signed his first professional contract in January 2021 and in April 2022 he was an unused substitute in a Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
In April and May 2023 Abu made three Championship appearances for the Canaries having spent the 2022/23 season scoring nearly a goal a game in Norwich’s Premier League 2 Under-23 league. In July 2023 he signed for League One side Portsmouth on a season-long loan and helped Pompey win the league title, scoring ten goals in 52 appearances. He returned to Norwich for the start of the 2024/25 season and added 3 appearances that took his Canaries’ senior tally to 7 appearances. He left Norwich City in late August 2024 to join Hull City.
In June 2024 Kamara received his first international recognition, playing twice for England’s Under-20 side against Sweden and Ireland.
