Biography

Exciting winger and forward Abu Kamara joined Hull City in August 2024 for a fee in the region of £4.5 million. Signed as a backup to Mohamed Belloumi and Liam Millar, Abu was quickly thrust into the limelight when both those players suffered long term knee injuries and he shone at times but struggled at others. In January 2025 an ill-advised social media led to Kamara apologising to City fans, and a day later he smote two fine goals past Leeds United – a high tariff method of endearing himself to Tigers fans.
Abu Bakarr Kamara was born in Lambeth, South London, to parents with Sierra Leonean heritage. He joined the Norwich City academy as a boy and progressed through the age groups, breaking into the Canaries’ Under-23 side in October 2020 and scoring regularly before making his senior debut in a December 2020 EFL Trophy tie against Milton Keynes Dons. He signed his first professional contract in January 2021 and in April 2022 he was an unused substitute in a Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
In April and May 2023 Abu made three Championship appearances for the Canaries having spent the 2022/23 season scoring nearly a goal a game in Norwich’s Premier League 2 Under-23 league. In July 2023 he signed for League One side Portsmouth on a season-long loan and helped Pompey win the league title, scoring ten goals in 52 appearances. He returned to Norwich for the start of the 2024/25 season and added 3 appearances that took his Canaries’ senior tally to 7 appearances. He left Norwich City in late August 2024 to join Hull City.
In June 2024 Kamara received his first international recognition, playing twice for England’s Under-20 side against Sweden and Ireland.
