Biography
Utility defender Nathan Neil Martin Peat was born in Hull and joined the club’s youth team system in the late 1990s. He signed apprentice terms in 1999 and was awarded his first professonal contract in 2002. Peat came into the City squad during the early stages of Adam Pearson’s tenure as owner, at a time when the turnover of managers and players was bewilderingly high. With this backdrop, Nathan found it difficult to get first team game time with the Tigers and had loan spells at Cambridge United (6 appearances) and Lincoln City (13 appearances) to build up his experience. A potential move to Harrogate Town in 2003 was blocked when injuries demanded that he remain at the KC Stadium, and he stayed on the club’s professional ranks until the 2005 close season, having made only two first team starts and four substitute appearances.
In October 2005 he joined Conference National side York City, commencing a remarkable fifteen year career in the North Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and South Humber non-league scene. At Bootham Crescent Nathan finally got a regular first team game across two seasons. In June 2007 he moved on to Conference North side Harrogate Town and he played regularly for the Wetherby Road side for two years and also contributed seven league goals. Two seasons with Gainsborough Trinity were followed by a four year stint at North Ferriby United, where Nathan made 128 appearances and played in the 2015 FA Trophy Final at Wembley. A season at Scarborough Athletic was followed in 2016/17 by a season as joint player-manager at Brigg Town. He joined Bridlington Town for the 2017/18 season and then spent seasons with Chalk Lane and Winterton Rangers. In May 2020 Nathan was appointed player/assistant manager at Barton Town but ended the 2020/21 season playing for Brigg Town.
In May 2021 Nathan hung up his boots after a 22 year playing career and took the managerial reins at Brigg Town. He left the Zebras in November 2022.
