Biography

Powerful and pacy wideman Milinkovic joined Hull City from Italian side Genoa in July 2018, having forged something of a reputation during a season long loan at Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian during the preceding 2017/18 season. He began the 2018/19 season on the Tigers’ bench and struggled to find a place in the first eleven, a situation worsened by indiscipline while playing for the Reserves. He returned to the first team squad in January 2019 and looked more dangerous and willing than before, but he ended his first season again out of the plans of City manager Nigel Adkins. Milinkovic was then ignored by new manager Grant McCann at the start of the 2019/20 season and he joined MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2020 on a one year loan, a move that the Canadian side declined to make permanent in January 2021.
Manuel David Milinkovic was born and raised in the south of France by w family with Serbian roots. As a youngster he played youth football for French side AS Cannes. In January 2012 Milinkovic joined the youth team setup at Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade but within six months he had moved on to another Belgrade-based side, FK Rad. In January 2013 Rad in turn loaned David to FK BASK, one of Serbian football’s oldest clubs, and he made a permanent move to BASK in the 2013 close season.
By January 2015 Milinkovic had impressed enough in Serbia to earn a move to Italian Serie B side Ternana, a club based at Terni in central Italy. He made his debut against Bologna in February 2015 and for the remaining five months of the 2014/15 season he was used mostly as a substitute, making 3 senior appearances. He left Ternana in the 2015 close season, in September 2015 David joined Serie B rivals Salernitana and during the first half of the 2015/16 season he established himself as a semi-regular first team starter for the Garnets, making 10 appearances and earning himself a rather unlikely January 2016 move to Serie A side Genoa – who in turn promptly loaned him to Virtus Lanciano, another Serie B side, where he made 7 appearances.
Milinkovic spent the whole 2016/17 season on loan at Serie C side ACR Messina where he scored his first senior goal in July 2016 against Robur Siena and ended the season with seven goals in 39 appearances. After a July 2017 loan move to Serie C side Foggia was ended early in August 2017 after 2 appearances, David spent the 2017/18 season at Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian, where his buccaneering and combustible style earned him plenty of fans as well as seven goals in 26 appearances. The Jam Tarts attempted to sign David in the 2018 close season but were unable to match his contract demands, which led to his July 2018 move to Hull City.
Milinkovic joined MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps for the 2020 season where he made 16 appearances and scored one goal in a September 2020 victory over Real Salt Lake City. He left the Canadian side in January 2021, days after the Whitecaps were obliged to sign him from the Tigers, and after seven months without a club he rejoined Italian Serie C side ACR Messina in August 2021. After just three appearances for Messina during September and October 2021 Milinkovic left the club in January 2022 and did not return to the professional game.
