Biography

Steven Mouyokolo was an elegant centre back who signed for Hull City in June 2009, completing a deal that had been drafted and agreed the preceding January.  He worked his way into the first team gradually and by the second half of the season he was putting in towering performances in a struggling team.  He scored his only City goal in an unlikely 1-1 draw against Chelsea in February 2010.  Mouyokolo’s efforts were not enough to keep City in the Premier League and he moved on in June 2010.

Steven Stefan Fabrice Mouyokolo was born in Melun, a town in the south-eastern suburbs of Franch capital Paris – his parents hailed from Congo. He came through the junior ranks at Chateauroux, a Ligue 2 side in central France. In July 2007 he joined Burgundy-based Ligue 2 side FC Gueugnon and made his senior debut in September 2007 against Clermont Foot. Steven made 23 appearances as Gueugnon ended the season at the bottom of the table and relegated to the Championnat National league. Mouyokolo’s promise allowed him to move to Northern France based Ligue 2 side US Boulogne in July 2008, during the 2008/09 season he made xx appearances folloiwng his August 2008 debut against Dijon. During December 2008 and January 2009 Steven made a string of first team starts that attracted the attention of Hull City’s scouting network and a deal to join the Tigers in the 2009 close season was struck in January 2009 – he scored three goals in 19 appearances for Boulogne.

In May 2010 Mouyokolo left the Tigers and signed for Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.  He made his Wolves debut in a September 2010 League Cup tie against Notts County and during the 2010/11 season he played a supporting role to the first team, making 7 appearances. In July 2011 he joined French Ligue 1 side FC Sochaux-Montbeliard but he made just 4 appearances before a cruciate ligament injury curtailed his spell in France and ultimately curtailed his senior career.  Wolves released Mouyokolo in January 2013 and in July 2013 he signed a one year contract at Scottish Premiership side Glasgow Celtic, but after only 3 appearances between August 2013 and April 2014 his time at Parkhead came to an end and he retired from the professional game.
