Biography

Versatile Swedish international wing-back, winger and forward Elliot Stroud joined Hull City in August 2026 from Swedish side Mjallby AIF for a fee reputed to be 2.5 million euros. He went straight into the City first team when they returned to the Premier League in August 2026 and defeated Manchester United.

Elliot Karl Stroud was born in Uddevalla, a former port city in Northern Sweden, to a Swedish mother and an English father. He came through the junior ranks at his local Swedish third tier side IK Oddevold and made his breakthrough in the first team in July 2019 when he debuted against Oskarshamns AIK. By September 2019 he was getting a first team start for Oddevold as the side were relegated to the fourth tier. They won promotion back to the third tier in the 2021 season and Stroud was now a mainstay of the first team, scoring his first senior goal in April 2022 against Lindome GIF. By the end of the 2022 season Elliot had scored seventeen goals in 74 appearances for Oddevold.

In January 2023 Stroud joined Swedish Allsvenskan side Mjallby AIF and signed a two year professional contract. He made his February 2023 Mjallby debut against Oskarshamns AIK, the same club he debuted against for Oddevold, and was mainly deployed from the bench during the 2023 season. He was a regular starter during the 2024 season and scored his first goal for the club against Halmstads BK in May 2024.

During the 2025 season Stroud built a reputation as one of the Swedish leagues most potent homegrown talents, which he burnished in November 2025 when he struck his first career hattrick against Varnamo, and at the end of the 2025 season Stroud claimed a league winners’ medal when Mjallby lifted the Allsvenskan title. His form continued into the 2026 season as Mjallby progressed through the rounds and won the May 2026 Swedish Cup final against Hammarby, Elliot scored the opening goal in the final. In his last appearance for Mjallby in August 2026 Stroud scored in a Champions League qualifying tie against Slovan Bratislava, which took his tally for the club in three and a half seasons to 28 goals in 109 appearances.

In March 2026 Stroud received his first call-up for the Sweden international squad and he was an unused substitute in a World Cup qualification play-off against Poland. Sweden won that play-off and Elliot was a part of the World Cup finals squad that headed to USA, Canada and Mexico in June 2026 – he made his international debut in a June 2026 warm-up match against Greece and played in all four of Sweden’s tournament matches, starting the final league phase match against Japan and the Round of 32 defeat to France.
