Biography

Versatile striker Mohamed-Ali Cho joined Hull City in August 2026 and went straight into the first team squad as the Tigers had a magnificent opening few weeks to the 2026/27 Premier League season.

Mohamed-Ali Cho was born in Stains, a town in the northern suburbs of Paris, to parents with Cote d’Ivoire and French-Moroccan heritage. During his formative years he moved between France and England as his parents sought work, and his junior footballing career reflected that travel – between 2011 and 2015 he played in the Paris St Germain academy, then from 2015 until 2020 he played for the Everton academy.

In January 2020 Cho returned to France and joined the academy at French Ligue 1 side Angers. After a single start for the Angers B team, the sixteen year old Cho made his senior debut for Angers in August 2020 against Girondins Bordeaux and he was used a regular substitute during the 2020/21 season. Mohamed was given a regular start during the 2021/22 season and scored his first goal for Angers against Stade Rennais in August 2021 – he completed the season with four goals in the French top flight, which took his senior tally to four goals in 55 appearances.

In July 2022 Cho transferred to Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad, a fee of at least twelve million euro securing his services. His August 2022 debut against Cadiz was followed by his first goal for the club in a December 2022 Spanish Cup tie against CD Coria – he also made his debut in European competition in September 2022, a Europa League tie against English Premier League side Manchester United. Injuries hampered his first team game time during his first season and he was used mostly from the bench during the first half of the 2023/24 season. His final appearance for Real Sociedad in a November 2023 Champions League tie against Salzburg took his tally to two goals in 40 appearances.

In January 2024 Mohamed returned to France and signed for Ligue 1 side Nice in return for a twelve million euro fee. He was a regular starter during the rest of the 2023/24 season as Nice finished in the top five of Ligue 1, following his debut for the club against Stade Rennais in January 2024. He was a regular starter for the next two seasons as Nice again finished in the European qualification places, then in 2025/26 season battled and avoided relegation after a May 2026 play-off victory over Saint-Etienne. Cho’s final appearance for Nice came in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 Ligue 1 season against Nice, which took his tally to twelve goals in 93 appearances. he signed for Hull City a few days later.

Cho’s heritage and country-hopping childhood meant he was eligible to play international football for several countries. After two appearances for England’s Under-16 side in August 2019, while still at the Everton academy, he made the switch to France and made 3 appearances for the French Under-19 side during March 2022, scoring twice in his debut against Sweden. In March 2023 he made his debut for France Under-20s against the United States and scored his only Under-20 goal in the last of his 6 appearances against Germany in March 2024. By that time Cho was already a France Under-21 player, having made his debut in September 2021 against North Macedonia while just seventeen years of age – a regular during the 2021/22 season, Mohamed returned for the last of his 8 France Under-21 appearances against Slovenia in September 2024.
