Biography

Tall Norwegian midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl joined the Hull City in August 2026 ahead of the Tigers’ return to the Premier League.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl was born in the north Norwegian island city Tromso, located two hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle. He was involved in the Tromso academy system from a young age and signed his first professional contract in October 2020, on his fifteenth birthday. He began playing for Tromso’s second team before his sixteenth birthday and made his senior debut in a May 2023 Eliteserien match against HamKam. Two weeks later he scored a brace in a Norwegian Cup tie against HIF/Stein, opening his senior scoring account, and remained part of the first team squad during the 2023 season before signing a new long term contract in October 2023.

He became a regular starter for Tromso during the 2024 season, in April 2024 he scored a hattrick in a Norwegian Cup tie against Floya and in July 2024 he made his first European appearance in a Europa Conference League tie against Finnish side KuPS. He carried his fine form into the 2025 season as Tromso finished third in the Eliteserien table and in March 2026 he opened his 2026 league season with a hattrick against Fredrikstad FK. By July 2026 Jens had scored nineteen goals in 104 apperances for Tromso ahead of his move to Hull City.

Hjerto-Dahl was recognised by the Norway international system during his teenage years, making 2 appearances for Norway Under-16s in September 2021 – during the same month he made 2 appearances for Norway Under-17s. Between March and November 2023 he scored two goals in 11 appearances for Norway’s Under-18 side, in October 2023 he scored on his debut for Norway Under-19s against Gibraltar, the first of 7 appearances during the 2023/24 season. In September 2024 he made his only appearance for Norway Under-20 against Portugal, in March 2025 he made his debut for Norway Under-21s against Czechia. In June 2026 he took his Under-21 tally to 7 appearances when starting against Finland.
