830 Steve Burton

Biography

Versatrile young defender Burton came through the City ranks for his hometown club and made his first team debut in Peter Taylor’s first season in charge, impressing manager and fans alike. After spending much of 2002/03 on the first team fringes, Taylor’s signings in the 2003 close season saw Burton pushed down the pecking order and he spent much of the season on loan at Kidderminster.

In 2004 Burton signed a permanent deal for Kidderminster arriers where he stayed for two seasons, but was rarely considered a first team pick. In 2006 Burton headed to Australia where he played in the lower leagues, but returned to England in 2010 to play for North Ferriby United. In March 2011 Burton headed to Sweden to play for Ostersunds FK under the management of ex-Stoke full-back Graham Potter. He left the professional game in 2013 and played a further season at non-league Scarborough.
