761 Craig Faulconbridge

Biography

Young striker Craig Faulconbridge joined Hull City on loan in December 1998, during the early weeks of Warren Joyce’s tenure as City manager. Faulconbridge started five consecutive games over the festive period and looked a lively prospect but failed to score as City lost three league games and a “92nd vs 1st” FA Cup tie against Aston Villa. The signing of Colin Alcide in late January spelled the end of Craig’s first team chances at City and he was given only one more start in a 0-0 draw at Mansfield.

Born in Nuneaton, Craig Michael Faulconbridge began his career in the youth setup at Coventry City. Two loan spells with Dunfermline Athletic preceded his six months at Boothferry Park, then in August 1999 he joined Wrexham. His inability to find the net at Hull City was cast aside and in three seasons Craig was a regular goalscorer for the North Wales side, netting 34 goals during 126 appearances. In July 2002 he joined Wycombe Wanderers and he was a first team regular in 2002/03 season, but over the subsequent two seasons he drifted out of the first team scene. In his three years at Adams Park Craig netted 8 times in 69 appearances.

In 2005 Faulconbridge left Wycombe and had a year out of the game. In 2006 he joined Wingate & Finchley and commenced a second journeyman career around the Home Counties non-league scene. Between 2012 and 2013 he was player-manager of Aylesbury United and in 2015 he ened his playing career and was appointed the manager of Thame Rangers, the reserve team of Thame United.
