589 Dave Kynman

Biography

Dave Kynman was a locally born left footed midfielder with pace and skill, who signed for City as an apprentice in 1978 after spending his teenage years playing for Orchard Park United. Kynman signed a professional contract for the Tigers in May 1980 and made his senior debut for the club five months later. He spent two years in the first team squad but saw little first team action as his contemporaries in the City youth setup overtook him – the likes of Garry Swann, Brian Marwood and Steve McClaren. Caretaker managers Bobby Brown and Chris Chilton selected Kynman for the final five fixtures of the 1981/82 season, but when new manager Colin Appleton arrived in the 1982 close season Kynman was not offered a new contract.

After a short spell at Schultz YC, Dave joined Bridlington Trinity in October 1982 and stayed on the East Riding non-league scene for many years, appearing for Hall Road Rangers in 1992 against the Tigers in the East Riding Senior Cup.
