Biography
Full back Walter Goodin was raised in the Drypool area of East Hull by his blacksmith father and became a Sargeant in the East Yorkshire Regiment stationed at Beverley Barracks in the early years of the 20th century. He played for Beverley Barracks FC and Beverley Town and in April 1905 he was selected for the Tigers in the club’s last friendly game of its inaugural 1904/05 season.
A year later in April 1906 he impressed while playing for Beverley Town in the East Riding FA Cup Final against Hull Botanic Swifts and a week later he was given a further trial match in the last game of City’s first League season. Alas, contemporary reports said that he disappointed and he did not reappear for the Tigers. He also left Beverley Town in September 1906 to further his military service. Goodin died in the closing months of 1921 at the age of 38.
