Biography

Centre forward Peter Mortimer Howe joined City in 1904 for City’s inaugural season, playing in the club’s first two senior fixtures in the 1904-05 FA Cup and contributing a goal. He was a regular starter and scorer in the club’s first League season but fell out of favour thereafter.
Born in Sunderland’s docklands, Howe cut his teeth with Wearside League side Kingston Villa, signing for Southern League side Reading in 1903 and moving to Hull a year later.
Howe returned to the North East in 1907, signing for South Shields.
