Biography

Striker Christian Sansam joined his home town club in November 1996 on a short term deal after an impressive trial for City’s reserves that featured a 25 yard screamer. He made a handful of appearances for Terry Dolan’s side over a three week period but failed to impress further, and he returned to the reserves for the remainder of the season.

Sansam was born in Bransholme but spent his teenage years living in Barton Upon Humber. He joined Scunthorpe United’s trainee scheme and made his first team debut in a September 1993 Associate Members’ Cup tie. He signed professional terms in December 1993 and made his league debut for The Iron that month. He spent another two years on the fringes of the Scunthorpe first team, making 29 appearances in total and scoring his solitary career goal at Preston in September 1995.

Scunthorpe released Sansam in February 1996 and he had short spells in the Conference with Halifax Town and the fourth tier with Scarborough. At the start of 1996/97 season he signed a short term deal at Bradford City and made just one substitute appearance for the Bantams, before being released two months later prior to his trial at Hull City.

On leaving the Tigers in the 1997 close season Sansam joined Barton Town. Later in the year he ventured to Singapore and spent two years playing for S-League side Woodlands Wellington. Following his return in 1999 Sansam studied sports science at University and in the 2010s was kitman for Doncaster Rovers and Peterborough United.
