Biography
Striker Sagbo joined the Tigers in July 2013 to add power to the City forward line. He played a support role, often from the bench, in his first Premier League season and was also pivotal in City’s run to the FA Cup Final, starting every game as a result of other forwards being Cup tied. The next season his role in City’s stuttering European campaign was modest and he spent the season out of the first team or on loan.
Born in the South of France in Marseille, Sagbo cut his teeth in local youth sides before signing for AS Monaco at the age of 16. In five years he scored regularly for the B team but never for the senior team and in 2010 he moved on the upwardly mobile Evian. His three years at Evian culminated in a goalscoring appearance in the French Cup final, and would have had the rare distinction of appearing in the Cup finals of France and England in consecutive seasons, were it not for the fact that he was an unused substitute at Wembley.
Sagbo departed Hull City in the Summer of 2015 and he joined Qatari league side Umm Salal, he scored over fifty goals for the Qatari side before moving to rivals Al-Shamal in 2020. After a brief return to Umm Salal, Sagbo was back at Al-Shamal for the 2021 season then spent the 2022 season at another Qatari League side Mesaimeer befoer hanging up his boots. In January 2024 he was tempted back for half a season of football with French Championnat National League Two side Istres FC, where he scored one goals in 6 appearances.
Sagbo was nearly selected for Benin while at Monaco but eventually threw in his lot with Ivory Coast, for whom he played a handful of under-23 games. In 2010 Yannick won two senior caps for The Elephants.
