880 Darryl Duffy

Biography

Young Scottish striker Duffy came to Hull City in January 2006 with a goalscoring reputation. His planned partnership with Jon Parkin, who was signed on the same day, never came to full fruition and Duffy was used as an impact substitute for much of his time at City, A year after signing he was on his way out again with only a handful of City goals under his belt.

Glasgow born Duffy began his professional career at Rangers but it was a season and half at Falkirk, where he rattled in over 30 goals, that made his name.

Duffy was loaned to Swansea in February 2007 and he signed for the Swans that summer, missing on City’s rise to the Premier League. He found his level at Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham Town where he scored regularly over a five year period. In 2013 Duffy embarked on an overseas odyssey, playing for three Indian League sides. In 2017 he returned to Scotland to play well into his late 30s with St Mirren, Airdrieonians, Stirling Albion and Stranraer. In June 2021 he was elevated by Stranraer to assistant manager, a post he was relieved of in April 2023. He used his time out of the game in 2023 and 2024 to study Football Management at Edinburgh Napier University.

Duffy’s goals at Falkirk earned him under-21 and Scotland B caps during 2005.
