Biography
Striker Facey joined City from West Bromwich Albion in June 2004 to add firepower to City’s League 1 promotion challenge. Facey contributed occasional goals but he rarely featured regularly in the first XI and was loaned to Huddersfield Town the following March, leaving the Tigers that summer. His final game for the Tigers was embellished by a goal, amid the frozen tundras of the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes.
Born and raised in Huddersfield to parents that hailed from Jamaica and Grenada, Facey joined his home town club at 16 and by his early 20s he had forged a reputation as a pacey goalscorer. In 2002 he signed for Bolton Wanderers but he made few appearances in the top flight with the Trotters and saw most action during loan spells. In January 2004 he switched to West Brom on a short term deal, but made little impression.
On leaving City Facey embarked on a seven year tour of lower league clubs, scoring a few goals and ending his career at Hereford. He remained involved in the game following retirement but in 2015 he was accused and convicted of match fixing and given a two year prison sentence.
Facey qualified to play for Grenada through his mother’s lineage and he made his debut for The Spice Boys in 2009, amassing two goals during nine caps.
