Full back Scott Wiseman came through the City junior ranks in the early 2000s and made his debut in April 2004 at 18 years old, replacing Lee Marshall after he broke his leg. Scott made a handful of appearances in 2004/05 as City swept through League One, turn had a small run in the first team in City’s return to the Championship in 2005/06. After spending all of 2006/07 on loan at Rotherham and Darlington, Wiseman left City in May 2007.
Wiseman subsequently embarked on an extensive career around the lower leagues and beyond. An unsuccessful season at Darlington came and went, before a three year spell at Rochdale saw Wiseman establish himself as a first team regular. In 2011 he moved on to Barnsley and played regularly for the Tykes in the second tier. Further spells at Preston, Scunthorpe and Chesterfield followed. In 2018 Wiseman dropped temporarily into the Conference and joined moneyed promotion hopefuls Salford City, with whom he won promotion to League 2 in his first season.
Wiseman represented England under-20s at the 2005 Toulon Tournament. In 2013 he was selected for the Gibraltar senior team, a country he qualifies to play for through his mother’s heritage, for whom he has won 10 caps and turned out in World Cup qualifying matches.
