81 Robert Hewitson

Biography

Outside left Robert Hewitson hailed from Newburn to the west of Newcastle and joined the Tigers from his local junior side in 1913, to act as reserve for his better known team-mate Gordon Wright. Hewitson played just one senior game for Hull City in April 1913, then played in the Hull Hospitals Cup final a week later. He stayed with the club during 1913/14 season and served the reserves, but didn’t make another senior start. He joined Blyth Spartans at the start of 1914/15 season but only stayed at Croft Park for a couple of months.

By 1939 he lived in Chester-le-Street and worked at a colliery. He died in Chester-le-Street in August 1957.
