650 Paul Mudd

Biography

Paul Mudd was a locally born full back who signed professional terms for City in 1988 after two years on the youth training scheme. He made his only first team appearance in May 1989, towards the end of a grim winless spell under Eddie Gray that saw City drop to the lower reaches of the second division. After a further season of reserve football Mudd left the club.

In July 1990 he headed up the East Coast and signed for Scarborough, who were embarking on their fourth season of senior league football. He spent three seasons at Seamer Road, and was a first team regular for most of that time. In July 1993 the glamour and bright lights of Scunthorpe United beckoned, where he spent two seasons again performing as a reliable first XI left back. In 1995 he moved to Lincoln City but this move was not a success once new manager John Beck and his hoof tactics arrived at Sincil Bank. Mudd made only 7 appearances for the Imps and moved again in 1996, joining Halifax Town. By 1998 he returned to place where many ex-City players go to rest, North Ferriby United.
