Biography

Striker Alan Hoult joined the Tigers on loan in the early weeks of 1978, shortly after Hull City had played Hoult’s parent club Leicester City in the FA Cup. He made three starts and scored the equaliser in an early February 1-1 draw against Brighton.
Born in Burbage, a historic agricultural village to the south of Hinckley in Leicestershire, Hoult was a highly-regarded apprentice at Leicester City but never made a first team appearance for the Foxes. In March 1978 Hoult had another loan spell at Lincoln City, where he scored once in four appearances. Leicester released him in the 1978 close season and he joined Bristol Rovers. Alan started an early season Anglo Scottish Cup tie and was also selected for a League Cup tie, but never made a league appearance for the Gas and was released in 1979. He then joined Nuneaton Borough, where he scored 15 goals in 1979/80 season and repeated the feat in 1980/81 as the Boro competed in the Alliance Premier League. Back in the Southern League for 1981/82, by February 1982 Alan was asking for a transfer after a spell on the sidelines but was back in the team and scoring goals a month later. Eventually it took until January 1983 before Alan left Nuneaton to join Bedworth United, at which point the trail runs cold.
Hoult was an England Schoolboy international in the early 1970s, winning four caps and scoring once.
