Biography
At the start of the 1946/47 season, when player turnover was high after World War Two and those players who were available to City were often hampered by National Service duties, City had a player shortage for a Monday night fixture against Gateshead. They plucked a youngster called Alan Smith from a local side, started him and never played him again. He put in the cross for City’s only goal in a 1-2 defeat, that’s all we can find out about him.
