Biography
Born in Blaydon near Gateshead, centre forward Thomas Hindmore Surrey came to the attention of Hull City’s scouts in the early part of the 1929/30 season, he signed for the Tigers in early October. A successful player in the Reserves – he scored 20 Midland League goals during his only season – his sole senior appearance came in late March 1930, three days after Hull City were unfortunate to lose the FA Cup semi-final replay to Arsenal. Centre forward Paddy Mills was rested and Surrey stepped in.
Despite his goal record in the Reserves the relegation suffered by the Tigers in May 1930 prompted a clearout and Surrey was sent packing. No further record of his playing career can be found, he moved to Bedford and lived there for many years, dying in January 1976.
