Biography
Striker Noah Ohio joined Hull City on a half season loan in January 2024 to add goals to the Tigers’ squad shorn of centre forward Liam Delap, who was sidelined by a knee injury. Noah made his City debut days later, coming on as a late substitute in a victory over Millwall then scored his City goal when netting a winner at Rotherham ten days later. After spending time out of the first team he returned in the closing weeks of the season and scored an important winner against Coventry City and a tumultuous equaliser in a classic end-of-season 3-3 slugfest against pomotion-bound Ipswich Town. He left the club in May 2024 with a considerably enhanced reputation as a result of these goals.
Noah Chidiebere Junior Anyanwu Ohio was born in the Netherlands’ newest city Almere, located across the IJmeer from Amsterdam. His parents were of Nigerian heritage and as a child Noah joined local side FC Almere’s youth team setup. At the age of 12 Noah moved to England and joined Manchester United’s academy, a year later he switched to the Manchester City academy. In June 2019 at the age of 16 Ohio moved to Germany and joined the RB Leipzig academy and won his first professional in July 2020 and scored regularly for Leipzig’s Under-19 team in the first half of the 2020/21 season.
In January 2021 Noah joined Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem on an 18-month loan and made his senior debut at the end of January 2021 against VVV Venlo, adding three further appearances in the remainder of the season before his loan was cut short in June 2021. He joined Austrian Bundesliga side Austria Wein in July 2021 and scored six goals in 31 appearances in his breakout 2021/22 season.
In July 2022 Ohio joined Belgian Jupiler League side Standard Liege on a four year contract and made his first team debut later that month against KAA Gent. He scored five goals in 29 appearances during the 2022/23 season and added one goal in 16 appearances during the first half of the 2023/24 season before joining Hull City on loan in January 2024.
In July 2024 Ohio left Standard Liege and signed for Dutch Eredivisie side FC Utrecht. In his third start he netted a brace in a victory over NAC Breda, having made his Utrecht debut two weeks earlier against PEC Zwolle.
Ohio was qualified to play internationally for Netherlands and also England at under-age levels. At Under-15 and Under-16 levels he represented both Netherlands (six goals in 7 appearances) and England (one goal in 6 appearances) before choosing to represent Netherlands once he moved away from England in 2019. In June 2022 Noah played three times for Netherlands’ Under-19 side, in September 2023 he debuted for the Netherlands Under-21 side against Moldova. Noah played twice for Netherlands Under-21 during his spell at Hull City, playing in matches against Norway and Moldova in March 2023 and taking his taking his tally to an impressive five goals in eight Under-21 appearances.
