1121 Vaughn Covil

Biography

Young midfielder Vaughn Covil joined the Tigers in July 2022, a low profile signing for the U21 side that soon gained more notice when he came off the first team bench for his senior City debut on the opening day of the 2022/23 season. He spent the opening weeks acting as an effective impact substitute for Shota Arveladze’s first team squad.

Vaughn Patrick Covil was born in California but grew up in Wiltshire and holds dual nationality. He was part of the Southampton academy system until the age of 16 when he was snapped up by progressive League 2 side Forest Green Rovers. He made his Forest Green debut aged 16 in an October 2019 EFL Trophy tie against Coventry and ended the 2019/20 season with four senior appearances, two in the EFL Trophy and two in the League. He added 3 more EFL Trophy appearances in the 2020/21 season and spent a month on loan at Southern League Premier League side Salisbury. Covil spent much of the 2021/22 season on loan at Southern League Division One side Melksham Town, making 33 appearances before joining the Tigers during the 2022 close season.

Vaughn’s dual nationality meant he was called up for the USA Under-15 and England Under-16 squads while at Southampton.
