1037 Daniel Batty

Biography

Youth team product Batty made his City debut in a League Cup tie at Doncaster Rovers in August 2017, after having been an unused substitute in earlier League games.  In October 2017 he was loaned to Halifax Town to get a month of first team experience.  After sitting on the bench for a few games Batty made a promising League debut at Brentford in the last fixture of 2017/18.

He started 2018/19 in City’s first team engine room and immediately became a part of Nigel Adkins first team plans as the gaffer plotted an unlikely assault on the Championship’s upper reaches.  In the opening fixture of 2019/20 at Swansea Batty scored his first goal for the Tigers and was a first team semi-regular in Grant McCann’s oft-rotated high-octane midfield group.  Dan remained committed to the cause despite City’s descent to the lower reaches of the Championship table and when the league resumed after the 2020 coronavirus pandemic it was Batty who stepped forward with powerful displays that earned him a year extension on his contract.
