Biography
Senegalese striker Niasse joined the Tigers on loan in January 2017, to help rebuild a career that foundered during an ill-fated spell at Everton. He immediately scored goals in the League Cup and the League, and showed a fearsome workrate while at times providing little end product. His best form came when he combined with Abel Hernandez as twin strikers.
Niasse scored two goals in every 3 games during a six year career for unheralded Senegalese side US Ouakam, form that encouraged a 2013 move to mid-ranking Turkish team Akhisar Belediyespor. A successful Super Lig season encouraged Lokomotiv Moscow to part with 5.5 million euros for Niasse’s services, as he continued to impress. In 2016 Oumar moved to Everton, immediately getting the unearned reputation for being a poor signing. By the time he came to Hull, Niasse was training away from the first team and had no squad number.
After managerial upheaval Niasse returned to the Goodison Park first team in 2017/18 and scored goals, but fell out of favour again the next season – ironically with Marco Silva, the man who signed him at City, at the helm. In January 2019 he joined Cardiff City on loan and made 13 appearances but didn’t score a goal.
Niasse eventually left Everton in the 2020 close season and it took until March 2021 for him to find a new club when he joined Huddersfield Town. However he did not make any first team appearances during his two months at Huddersfield and was released in May 2021. After half a season without a club spent training with a non-league team in West Didsbury, Manchester, Niasse signed for League One side Burton Albion in February 2022. Released in the 2022 close season, Oumar was again without a club for eight months until March 2023 when he signed a short term deal at League 1 strugglers Morecambe, scoring one goal in 10 appearances befoer leaving in May 2023.
Niasse is a Senegalese international having made his senior debut in 2014.
