Biography
Diminutive forward George Morrall joined City in the 1919 close season, as the club rebuilt its squad following the league closedown during World War 1. He scored freely during his first season but after only two starts in 1920/21 he was transferred to Grimsby Town.
George Alfred Morrall was born in the Deritend district of Victorian industrial Birmingham, to a father who was a brass turner. George played in the West Midlands non-league scene prior to World War 1, winning Midland Combination champions medals at Redditch and Nuneaton. During 1918/19 he was at Blackheath Town, a Staffordshire dormitory town whose coal mine coincidentally closed the year that Morrall joined the Tigers.
Morrall spent two seasons at Grimsby Town before returning to the West Midlands lower leagues in 1922. He died in Weston Super Mare in the early months of 1964.
