Biography
Powerful if somewhat disorganised Norwegian forward Diomande was City’s big money signing in the August 2015 transfer window, but he was signed injured and did not debut until the following December. He struggled to make an impression in the Championship, but did contribute a few valuable goals as an impact substitute. At the start of the next season Diomande played an important left sided forward role in City’s Premier League side, but fell out of favour when Marco Silva took over the club. He had another bit part season in 2017/18, his last for the Tigers, despite an impressive two goal performance early in the season against Bolton.
Born in Oslo to parents hailing from Cote d’Ivoire, Diomande played for an impressive array of monosyllabic sides before he made an impression at Norwegian side Stromgodset and Belarussian side Dinamo Minsk. He enjoyed a profilic season for Danish side Stabaek before signing for the Tigers.
In May 2018 Adama was released from his contract to head Stateside, signing for Los Angeles FC. He made an immediate positive contribution to the LA side, bagging a goal a game for a while. However he began to struggle with addiction issues and after a period of respite and recovery he left the club in August 2020.
After several months out of the game, in April 2021 he headed off on his travels once more and signed for Chinese Super League side Cangzhou Mighty Lions. Four months later he joined Qtari League side Al-Sailiya. After a short spell at Norwegian Eliteserien side Odds in 2022 Adama returned to MLS in January 2023 when he signed for Toronto FC. After a debut against DC United in February 2023 and four subsequent appearances, his 2023 season was cut short by a leg injury. He left Toronto in February 2024 without adding to his five appearances made during the 2023 season.
In August 2024 Diomande joined newly promoted Norwegian Eliteserien side KFUM-Kameratene Oslo, the capital’s highly successful YMCA side.
Adama was an established Norwegian international, making his senior debut in 2015 when he replaced ex-Tiger Joshua King. He went on to win 11 Norway caps, ten of which were claimed while with Hull City.
