Striker Luer was lured from the non-leagues in 2015 to bolster City’s emerging development squad and challenge for first team places. He made an impact in the club’s 2015 League Cup run, scoring goals against Accrington and Rochdale before spending time on loan at three lower league clubs. In his second season he suffered long term injury during another League Cup tie at Exeter and spent the rest of the Premier League season outside the first team scene. Greg failed to make any mark during 2017/18 and as the season drew to a close he signed on loan at Conference National side Maidstone United, his contract ending in May 2018.
Prior to signing for City Luer was a junior at Brighton & Hove Albion and had several seasons at south coast non-league sides Hove Rivervale, Whitehawk and Eastbourne Borough. He came to the notice of Hull City after a productive 12 goal spell at Burgess Hill Town.
Luer signed for Conference National side Woking in July 2018 and his goals assisted them to promotion the following May. In June 2019 he switched back to the south coast, signing for Eastbourne Borough.
