1006 Greg Luer

Biography

Striker Greg Luer signed for Hull City from non-League side Burgess Hill Town in January 2015 to bolster City’s emerging development squad and challenge for first team places.  In February 2015 he was loaned to League One side Port Vale for a month, where he made 2 appearances. He made an impact on the Tigers’ 2015/16 season League Cup run, scoring goals against Accrington Stanley and Rochdale and coming off the bench in two Championship fixtures.

In February 2016 Luer joined League One side Scunthorpe United on a month’s loan and made 4 appearances, he returned to City in March 2016 and immediately began a second two month loan at League Two side Stevenage, where he made 10 appearances. He managed just one senior appearance during the 2016/17 season, a League Cup tie against Exeter City in which he suffered a long term injury. Greg returned to fitness in the 2017/18 season and added two further appearances for the Tigers before joining National League side Maidstone Town on loan in March 2018, making 6 appearances. Luer left the Tigers in May 2018 when his contract expired.

Gregory Roland Luer was born in Brighton and was a junior at Brighton & Hove Albion, but failed to make the grade as a teenager and drifted into the Sussex non-league scene, playing for junior teams associated with Hove Rivervale, Whitehawk and Eastbourne Borough.   He came to the notice of Hull City after a productive 12 goal spell at Burgess Hill Town. In the 2013 close season he joined Isthmian League side Burgess Hill Town and over the next two seasons he scored 24 goals in 56 appearances, ending his time with the Hillians with a December 2014 hattrick against Worthing prior to joining Hull City.

Luer signed for Conference National side Woking in July 2018 and his nine goals in 39 appearances assisted The Cards to promotion the following May. In June 2019 he switched back to the south coast, signing for National League South side Eastbourne Borough, in four seasons with Eastbourne he scored 28 goals in 133 appearances.

In June 2023 Luer signed for National League South side Worthing FC, where he scored one goal in 30 appearances as the Rebels narrowly missed out on promotion to the Conference National after losing the end of season play-off final to Braintree Town.
