Biography

Striker Edward “Ted” Dixon joined City in March 1907 and left three months later after three goalless first team starts.
Born in Thornley near Easington, a coal mining town on the Durham Coast, Dixon began his playing career in junior football. He joined Sunderland for the 1904/05 season but made no first team starts. In the 1905 close season he joined Lincoln City and scored three times in 35 appearances over two seasons. When he joined Hull City in March 1907 he made his debut against the club he just left, Lincoln City.
He left the Tigers at the end of the 1906/07 season and by 1911 he had returned to Thornley and was working as a coal miner. By 1939 Dixon had retired from mining due to incapacity and was living in Houghton le Spring. He died in Sunderland in June 1959.
