Biography

John Edward Moore was born in Gateshead, the inside left played junior football for Annfield Plain and Hebburn Colliery before signing for the Tigers in April 1934. He made his debut at the start of the 1934/35 season, starting the first four games before falling out of contention and making only one more appearance two months later.

Moore joined Division Three North side Gateshead in June 1935, making his debut against Tranmere Rovers in September 1935 and scoring his first goal a week later against Barrow. In two seasons he scored four goals in 24 appearances for Gateshead before leaving the club in May 1937.

After football John worked as a locomotive driver in the East Cleveland area, living in the coastal town of Saltburn. He died in Saltburn in July 1987.
