Biography

Striker Nicol had a brief three month spell at City between February and May 1936, contributing two goals to a side destined for relegation to Division Three North.
Edinburgh-born Nicol started his career at Leith Athletic, where he won a Scottish Division Two champions medal in 1930. He headed south to sign for Portsmouth in 1932 and moved on to Aldershot a year later, but was playing at lowly Burton Town prior to signing for City.
Following his short spell at Anlaby Road, Nicol served York City and Scarborough Town.
