Hull born defender George Brooks, also known as George Brooke and George Brookes in some records, joined Hull City in 1904, the club’s formation year, and remained at the club until 1907. However his only senior appearance came in October 1905 when a fixture clash between a home league game against Manchester United (a money-spinning Saturday fixture) and an away FA Cup qualifier at Denaby United prompted City to play both games on the same day, sending a second string squad to Denaby. He died in Hull in December 1934.

My Grandad who unfortunately I never got to meet. We would have had so much to talk about, but I suspect mainly football.
