1133 Harry Vaughan

Biography

Attacking midfielder Harry Vaughan joined Hull City’s Under-21 Academy side in January 2023 after impressing for Conference National league side Oldham Athletic with his pace and direct running ability. Within three months he was thrust into first team action by manager Liam Rosenior and made his Tigers debut at Blackburn rovers in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Vaughan was on teh fringes of the first team squad for the first half of the 2023/24 season and impressed in two January 2024 FA Cup ties against Birmingham City. At the end of January 2024 he joined League One side Bristol Rovers on a half season loan.

Harry Patrick Vaughan was born in Trafford, Greater Manchester and was part of the Manchester United youth setup until he switched to League Two side Oldham Athletic in the early weeks of 2021. The Latics quickly pressed the 16 year old into first team action and he made his debut when coming on as a substitute against Barrow in February 2021, six weeks ahead of his 17th birthday. He made five further substitute appearances in the remainder of the 2020/21 season and continued that pattern in the opening weeks of the 2021/22 season, scoring goals in October 2021 against Harrogate Town and a December 2021 winner in the EFL Cup against Sunderland. He ended the season with two goals in 30 appearances as Oldham slipped out of the Football League – his senior tally for the Latics was two goals in 36 appearances.

Vaughan made a further four starts for Oldham in the early weeks of the 2022/23 season, then in December 2022 he began a month on loan at Northern Premier League side Radcliffe FC. It was after this spell that the Tigers swooped to claim his signature on Academy terms.

Vaughan qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his mother’s lineage, and he made his first appearance for the Ireland Under-19 squad in October 2021 against Sweden. By March 2023 he had taken his Under-19s tally to 8 appearances. He also played for Ireland Under-18s once in November 2021, also against Sweden. In June 2023 he was called up the Ireland Under-21 squad for the first time.
