Guinean international defender Zayatte joined the Tigers on loan after a trial at Newcastle United.  He is City's first player to hail from Guinea, having been born in West African peninsula and port city Conakry, the country's capital.  He holds French citizenship.  His debut - coincidentally at Newcastle - showed him to be a tall and powerful player with a nice touch and he soon became a rampaging stalwart in the centre of the City defence, form that encouraged the Tigers to make his loan move permanent in a £3 million during January 2009.  His form dipped a little in his second Premier League season, which injury cut short, and his all-action style continues to catch him out in the Championship.  He was retained by City after relegation and turned in some mixed performances in the Championship before being released on compassionate grounds in January 2011, only to sign for Turkish side Konyaspor a week later. In May 2011 he moved on to another Turkish side, Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyespor.
