A teenage star at both Old Trafford and Highbury, the son of former QPR stopper Steve Wicks stepped down the Leagues to get a first team chance.  Passed the Brighton bound David Lee at Donnington Services on the M1 as they executed their swap deal.  After a dozen or so games of limited talent Wicks fell out with the chairman and elected to stay away from Hull in a protracted exile that ended when his contract was paid up in February 2003.
