An England Under-21 international, in Summer 2003 this young defender refused the overtures of several higher ranked clubs to join the Peter Taylor revolution at the KC Stadium.  He showed promising signs in his early career for City but then suffered two years of excruciating semi-permanent injury.  During a period out of contract Alton was allowed to recuperate with the City first team before proving his worth by returning to the Championship first team and earning a new contract.  This episode demonstrated Alton's tremendous bravery and iron will, and he now stands on the verge of once again being a good asset to the first team.  Alas a couple of ugly games at right back when the Tigers propped the table, prompted a loan switch to Leyton Orient with the move made permanent once the transfer window opens.
