This versatile defender and attacker was City's record signing when he came from Leeds in 1988. Swannie spent two and a half seasons in black and amber before successfully seeing the writing on the relegation wall and moving on to Vale Park. The "Swan Option", whereby the big man switched from centre back to centre forward midway through matches City were losing, was a top feature of late 80s action.  Latterly he joined York, but was soon to suffer a career ending injury.
Had a spell as player-coach for Ossett Town, and now is a regular summariser on northern local radio stations.
