 A City target a year earlier when he joined Stoke City, Nigerian international midfielder Olofinjana is a tall and elegant player who appeared ill fitting to Stoke's robust style from the off.  After waiting a year Phil Brown got his man in return for a £2.5m fee, allowing Seyi to fit into the midfield berth vacated after Ian Ashbee's long term injury.
Born and raised in Lagos, Oluwaseyi Olofinjana began his career in his home country while studying at university.  In 2003 he moved to Norway and signed for Brann Bergen, and soon carved a fine reputation that encouraged Wolverhampton Wanderers to part with 31.7m for his services.  After a couple of fine seasons during which Seyi's establsihed himself as a goalscoring midfield powerhouse, his form dipped due to injury as Wolves' annual attempts to gain promotion to the Premier League continued to founder.  His time at Stoke started well but he failed to fit into Pulis's long ball style at the Britannia and languished for half a season on the bench.
