Stocky midfielder and full back, Norton played a regular part in the early 90s Dolan team that flirted with real success.  At the end of his contract he moved on in the hope of a better future - it is doubtful as to whether Northampton and Hereford shaped up to expectations.
Had a spell as assistant manager for non-league success story Tamworth FC, then fulfilled the same role at Nuneaton Borough as well as running a soccer school business.  In February 2004 he was appointed manager of Grantham Town, only to resign in September that year after a poor start to the season.
Currently assistant manager at Stafford Rangers.
