McPhee was originally a City transfer target in the Summer of 2004 when his contract expired after a season full of goals for Port Vale.  At that time he joined Portuguese side Beira Mar, but their relegation led to McPhee seeking a move and Peter Taylor swooped.  A nippy and hard working striker, he is good in the air for a small man.  Injury marred his first season at City and delayed his start to 2006-07 but he returned to first team action in December.  He still has a lot to prove, despite showing flashes of talent during his rare first team forays, and after a brief run on the right wing in late 2007 he was sold to Blackpool on the opening of the January 2008 transfer window.  McPhee retired due to injury in 2010.
