Young and rated keeper that Arsenal sourced as a 17 year old from Atalanta, Mannone signed on a three month loan to cover for Matt Duke during his Championship wobbles.  After three games on the bench Mannone was given his debut away at Preston, and he made an immediate positive impact on the City defence with his superb shot-stopping and command of the penalty box.  After seven largely faultless appearances he pulled up with a leg injury in late December and briefly returned to Arsenal for treatment, but extended his loan for the season in early January 2011.  And when Nick Barmby needs goalie cover in January 2012 City again turned to Mannone for a six month loan.
