Midfielder Mainwaring was a youngster at Manchester United and a youth player at Preston North End before joining Stockport County at 18. But he suffered injuries as the Hatters plummeted into the non-leagues and was released by Stockport boss Dietmar Hamann towards the end of 2011.  Mainwaring then trained with the Tigers and was offered a short term deal in January 2012 followed by an immediate loan back to Conference table-proppers Stockport, who were now under new management.  A bizarre move, but please ... don't panic.
