Flamed haired left back Wayne did sterling work for City after signing from the verge of the Sheffield Wednesday first team. Sustained a serious knee injury in 1992 that took over 12 months to heal. Terry Dolan, who inherited Wayne, considered his career at an end and released him. Jacobs showed just how poor Dolan's judgment was by going on to become one of the most capable attacking full backs outside the top flight.  Late on, the Bradford renaissance saw Wayne given his Premiership chance.
In June 2005 Jacobs joined Halifax Town as player and assistant manager.  Two years later he was appointed assistant manager to Stuart McCall at Bradford City.
