Tough tackling, tigerish and tenacious, Steven Hawes proved a useful addition to the City midfield after spending his formative years at Sheffield United.  Spent much of 1997-98 training with City despite being nominally on Doncaster's books as part of a long-term loan that went sour.  Became seriously out of favour once Warren Joyce took the City reins, and after many months in the wilderness he moved to non-League pastures new.
