Snapped up by Joyce for £30,000 the day that Preston invited offers, this tall, lean and pacy striker looked worth a few goals.  Alas, in his first season his first team chances were irregular, and when he was selected his undoubted pace was overshadowed by suspect radar when finishing.  Later, Harris's comments about severance pay during the club's financial crisis made him an enemy of many fans, and his departure during the summer of 2001 was assured.
