USA born goalkeeper Guzan carved a reputation at Club Deportivo Chivas USA, the exotically named Los Angeles-based US Major Soccer League team.  Of Polish-American extraction, Guzan moved to Aston Villa in July 2008 where he competed with his international team-mate Brad Freidel for the keeper's shirt.  After only half a Premier League appearance (but several Cup and European starts) he joined City on an initial month's loan in response to Vito Mannone's injury and return to Arsenal. He then alternated with the recovering Mannone for much of 2010-11.
