 Pacey forward Ghilas was born in Marseille but plays for the Algerian national side.  After commencing his career at Martigues and Cannes, he transferred to Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes during 2006.  Two successful seasons later he moved to Spanish side Celta Vigo and despite the side's relegation he contributed 13 goals in his sole season.  His sole season at City was a big disappointment, as his scurrying style failed to counteract his lack of composure and guile.  Set into the wilderness by Phil Brown and Iain Dowie, Nigel Pearson's response was to loan Ghilas to upwardly mobile French outfit AC Arles Avignon.
