Powerful young forward with a good goalscoring record in a bad Northwich Victoria Conference side, Gary came to Boothferry for a two month loan, on the understanding that a permanent £150,000 switch would occur should the trial be mutually successful.  He failed to impress, and was sent packing back to Cheshire, before the same fee saw him switch to Leyton Orient.  Once again he couldn't cut the mustard at Brisbane Road and had loans to Grays Athletic, Dagenham & Redbridge and back to Northwich.
In the opening week of 2003-04 he signed for Lincoln City, managed by Keith Alexander another former manager at Northwich.  Gary went on to card a goal-filled season at Sincil Bank before being re-born as Gary Taylor-Fletcher in the summer of 2004.  Further goals led to a move to Huddersfield in Summer 2005.
By 2007 he had moved on to Blackpool where he continued his goalscoring exploits and eventually rose to the Premier League thanks to Tangerines unlikely Wembley play-off victory in May 2009.  He scored some important Premier League goals but they were not enough to prevent an immediate drop back to the second tier.
